What We Do

Family Promise is a national organization with more than 200 local affiliates.  Affiliates help local communities coordinate their compassion and current resources to address the root causes of family homelessness. We address the issue holistically. We provide prevention services before families reach a crisis, offer shelter and case management when they become homeless, and stabilization programs once they have secured housing to ensure they remain independent. We tap existing local resources to empower families towards economic stability. Families come to us in crisis; we help them rebuild their lives with new skills and ongoing support.

Typically affiliates have a network of 13 Host Sites that host 5 families, 1 week at a time 4 times a year.   Our host sites work in rotation together. Host sites are often churches, synagogues, and community centers.

Families stay at the Host Site in the evening hours-typically from 6 pm-6 am.  During the day they go to work, the Day Center or to school.  At the day center, they work with our Executive Director and Case Manager on things like looking for work, arranging reliable transportation, securing housing, and connecting to services like counseling and more.
