Night Without A Bed

Hello Community Member, 

Did you know that there are more homeless children in the United States today than homeless individuals during The Great Depression? We were surprised as well when we heard that statistic. This is why we are so committed to the work of Family Promise of Riverside and hope you will join us in creating a solution here in Riverside, California. 
 

The mission of Family Promise of Riverside (a 501(c)(3), EIN: 84-3313147) is to help families with children experiencing homelessness achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Poverty is a complex problem. It will not yield a simple solution. It requires an integrated approach that reaches beyond immediate needs. Family Promise of Riverside provides case management services, financial literacy education, good tenancy courses, and so much more to surround homeless families with the support they need during one of the hardest times in their lives. It is said that it takes a village to raise a child; we are that village holding unhoused families' hands to ensure great outcomes for children. 
 

The outcomes for children experiencing homelessness are particularly grim. Unhoused children are:

• 8 times more likely to repeat a grade, 

• 3 times more likely to be placed in a special education program, and

• 7 times more likely to attempt suicide 

 

By stepping in and providing a comprehensive approach to educate and guide the adults in the family, we can mitigate the trauma and harm experienced by their children. We work with families because we ultimately believe that every child deserves a home.
